.256 Super Mag data
« on: October 18, 2009, 11:10:46 AM »
Hello,  I picked up a new to me .256 Super Mag (.256 MAX.) in a 12" MGM Encore barrel.  This is the .256 Win Mags big brother built with .357 Max brass vs. .357 Mag brass.  Does anyone have any published, made-up, tried, or proven load data for this wildcat.  I saw few articles on it several years back but like a dummy I never kept any of them.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

This probably isn't going to make you feel warm & fuzzy about reloading the 256 Max but I offer the following suggestions,
1. go to the speciality Pistols forum and the hand gun silhouette forum here, if there was data developed it should be in a past copy of the IHMSA news, and several people have copies of every issue printed.
2. Compare the case Vol. of a Mag & a Max case, sa well as the Max load listed for the Max and Mag. useing the same weight bullet and powder
3. see if you can any data for a 25 TCU, the case capasities are close

If none of these help PM me and I'll pass along what a well known wild catter told me a long long time ago
