Will a 700 ADL stock fit a 788?
« on: October 30, 2008, 03:47:58 PM »
I've been looking for a youth rifle for my son and have seen a lot of take off 700 ADL youth stocks for sale.   I have a 788 carbine in 308 that would work great with a shorter stock.  Could anyone tell me if this would fit?

Thanks

Nope, I am sorry to tell you it will not fit.

Maybe you can buy this stock and cut it down for him.

You might have to epoxy a piece of wood into the cut down synthetic stock in order to install a recoil pad, but with some work it can be done.

Just don't cut down your original, or it will no longer be of value.

Keep checking ebay.com and gunbroker.com, sometimes people sell thier original wood stock which you can cut down.

There are some synthetic stocks that can be cut down and some that can not. if you can find a wood stock, it would cut down for sure.

Here is one place to get a wood stock

Look at the bottom of the page for the 788 that will fit a 308
