Early Contender Vent rib
« on: October 25, 2008, 04:37:24 PM »
I have the early Contender in a .357 hot shot. It has the vent rib on top. Is there a weaver rail that will replace the vent rib. There are 2 mount screws on the rear and looks like one on the front. I want to scope it. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I've owned several vent rib TC barrels over the years, but I never removed the ribs on any of them and the only one I have now is a 21" .410 barrel.   So this will be only a guess.

I seriously doubt there is a Weaver 2-hole base for your barrel.   Scope mount bases that are made for TC barrels are all 4-hole or 6-hole.   Whether the 2 holes you know you have will line up with 2 on a 4-hole base I don't know, but 2 screws wouldn't be much support.   Could be if you take the rib off there are actually 4 holes hiding under it.   If so a standard Weaver TC base would fit.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Suggest calling T/C and asking. They should be able to tell you.

The front screw adjusts the height of the front sight, mounted by the roll pin.  :o
