My wife wrote this little piece.
Mom passed away at the age of 90 years old. She had 3 living sons. Mark is the baby. She was in a nursing home diagnosed with Alzheimers. The last time Mark & I visited her she did not know Mark. However, she called me by name. Mark was at a loss to know how to talk to her because she didn't even know him. She did say that he looked a lot like Mark. When he said he was Mark she looked at me like he was joking. I decided I'd talk to her about the Lord because that was the one thing that meant a lot to her in her hard life. She didn't have much but she went to church and prayed and read her Bible faithfully. I asked her what was the most important thing in the whole world and she said "God."Then I asked what His name was and she said "Jesus." That's when I said she would be fine because that was all that mattered. They had some large lettered Bible tracks laying around, so I asked her to read them to me. They had words like Ephesians, Galatians, etc. She didn't even stumble on those words. Everyone is still astounded when I tell them what she did. I told her I was so proud she could read! She kinda got indignant and said," I can read and I can write too!!!" It just goes to show that when the Lord said He would never leave us or forsake us, that He meant what He said. Mom asked Gabriel & I to sing "Angel Band" at her funeral a few years back. So Mark, Gabriel and I did this just for her. I know she was listening. The old hymns were about the only songs she knew. At the end of the funeral, they released white doves whichwill return back home. Gabriel & I played "On the Wings of a Dove" on 2 fiddles. The doves looked so pretty. I know Mom has returned back home and even though we will miss her, she can look back and remember everyone again. Thank you Lord Jesus for the 35 years I had knowing this Christian lady.
