Daughters 1st Elk Updated
« on: October 18, 2008, 04:04:52 PM »
Well she already got her moose with my crossbow, but she put the Handi
to work this week ;)
We were sitting a park when a small herd came out. I told my daughter to
let them get out far enough they wouldn't get back to the timber.
At about 150yds they were feeding and she picked the biggest cow.
Her 1st shot was right behind the shoulder, her 2nd was a running miss
her third was in the shoulder as the cow was standing on wobbly legs.
I was chuckling the whole time, I knew her 1st shot was good, but I
guess she DID hear me say shoot til they're down ;D
A 13yr old girl, a 270 Handi rifle and 3rounds in about 15 seconds, who needs
semi auto?  ;D

update___________________________________________________________________________

Got all her meat back from the processor. So far she has filled an 8cu ft chest freezer
with steaks and roast and half the upright with burger. I'm going to have to buy another
freezer if I want to pull the trigger on anything this year! (not too bad for her 1st year)

Congrats to you and especially to the young lady! What a super way to spend time with children!

Just out of curiosity, where in the great state of Wyoming were your daughter and you when this fine exhibition of markswomanship took place? I, too, am also curious what load she was using.

Might we also see pictures of the moose?

You dudes keep expanding my horizons.  I didn't think a fella (or lady) could kill an elk with a .270 ;).

Congrats!  Great pic!

Great job to you both!! I hope my little girl still wants to hunt at 13. She's 9 now, and took her first deer last year, a button buck. I hope I can put her on a decent buck this year, but if she wants to shoot the first thing she sees, I'm not going to hold her back.

Tell your daughter, Great Job!!! ;)

I hope I can keep her hunting and out of trouble
My other daughter has 3yrs to go before she can
hunt big game. ( I think that's BS but it's what our
politicians think is best) :P :P ::)
