I have a 15" SSk barrel chambered for the .338JDJ #2 and was wondering if anybody would share some pet load info or a good powder to start with. I have some Varget and some IMR 4064. Thinking of 180gr and 200gr bullets for now  probably accubonds or ballistic tips if I can find any. any info will be greatly appreciated.

The best place to start is to contact SSK and request a load sheet.  Chances are good that they will send you one.  That was not a particularly popular chambering so don't expect a lot of folks to chime in with "pet loads".  IMO it is a great cartridge, although I do not have a T/C so chambered.

I already have  the load sheet from SSK. I was trying to see if somebody used the powders i had listed and if not why they chose another. Thanks for the input though. :)

I use Re15 and AA2520 with the 200 gr. Hornady Spire point for about 2280-2300 fps from a 14" Contender barrel, and am completely satisfied. I don't post complete data for wildcats on the internet. J D will be your very best source of info. If that makes someone spend another twenty bucks for a different can of powder, well...it will be worth it.

Hey banjoman, I've had a 338JDJ#2 for several years.
I've tried AA-2520, IMR-4320, IMR-4895, H-4895 and IMR-4064.
I've also loaded 180 & 200 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and 200 grain Hornady Spire points.
The only powder I've tried that my barrel likes is IMR-4064 and it really likes it! Some of the other powders have shot groups or should I say patterns as large as 6 inches at 100 yards.
IMR-4064 is an MOA powder in my barrel with any of the bullets I have tried. ;)
Hornady's Sixth Edition reloading manual has load data for the 338JDJ#2 in a 14" barrel Contender.

I've had the 338 for years now and I have shot all sorts of powders and bullets.
the favorite load of mine is:
225 Nosler Accubond
47 grains of AA2520
I have shot many others but this load has shot many under and inch and a few under half inch groups.
I have shot a .400, .475, .490, and a .495
It will shoot consistant 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 groups out to 300 yds. Now thats all off a bench

Banjo--I am using 49.0 gr Varget with the 200 gr Accubond in my .338JDJ 14" barrell...chronoed right at 2250fps. I tried 49.5gr and 50.0gr, but 49.0gr is accurate and this seems near max in my barrell. Gene

Although I have the 375 JDJ bug, I am intrigued with the 338 JDJ. Any chance you could post a pic of the 338 JDJ case, maybe with something as a reference?
