Pentax Binoculars?
« on: January 18, 2008, 04:12:17 PM »
Anyone have experience with Pentax Binoculars.  I looked through a pair today at Sportsman's Warehouse.  To me they were as clear/clearer than Bushnell (H2O) and Nikon (Action) bino's in the same price range.  Just wondering if anybody has used them and if so what your thoughts are.   Thanks.

Pentax makes some superb binoculars.  They have a variety of quality levels and price points like most of the others.  I have a pair of 10X42 DCF WP's that I really like.  I bought them several years ago based upon ratings from several sources.  I have been very satisfied with them.  Check out the birdwatcher sites for ratings.

I have a pair of 8x42 DCF WP that I've used the last three years. Very satisfied with them, and for the price range would be hard to beat for brightness and clarity.

I am not impressed with the Pentax roofs under the DCF WP II in price.  The Pentax PCF WP II is a good porro for the price with views comparable with porros such as the Nikon Action Extreme, Leupold Green Ring Mesa, Bushnell Legend and Audubon Raptor.

I bought a pair of  Pentax DCF 8x42s at Cabela's a few years ago  for $275 and they have been well worth the money.  Still use them for antelope but carry lightweight Nikons in the woods.

I have the original Pentax 8X42 DCF's. They have been well worth the money I paid for them. I also have 8X32 SLC Swarovski , also the older version, the Pentax are not quite as bright or sharp (but closer than you might think) but then they cost less than half the price.

The Pentaxz porro prism scopes are excellenet.  Once had a 7X50 that I hunted with and used at football games.  Gave it to my son.  Best scope for the money I every had, and I have some of the very best on the market.  I recommend them.
