I need a Contender barrel measurement
« on: November 02, 2008, 01:28:28 PM »
I need the measurement from the rear of the pin hole to the rear of the underlug just below the notch.  I just need to see if this barrel is in the ball park as far as this dimension.  Larry

Larry, A measurement of two of my factory contenders result in 1.697 and 1.696.  On their frame there is about a 0.003" gap.  I'd say you are in the ballpark.  On another note, I would recommend that you use your hinge pin inserted in the hole to reference from and subtract its diameter rather than just using the edge of the hole to achieve a little more precision in your measurement.  Best, Brian

Thanks for taking the time to measure it for me.  This is a raw lug welded to a new barrel, the barrel extends about .050 past the underlug and I was getting ready to turn the barrel flush with the lug, looks like I will take off some to make it about 1.700 and send it out to check fit, I can always take a tiny bit more off, I take it that your barrel breaches are flush with the lug.  Larry

Yes, the lug and the barrel breach are machined flush.  Brian
