Is this the place to find info on new springfield m1a. I didnt see a springfield site on graybeard and thought this might be close.I am thinking of getting a standard m1a and wanted some input.

Are you talking about the loaded M1a model or another make of rifle? Being I live in california I am limited on assult rifles. I have a mini 14 and wanted a mini 30 or maybe a M1A which is double the cost of a mini 30

the Mini 30 and M1A are two TOTALLY different aminals. The Mini 30 chambers the 7.62x39 and the M1A the 7.62x51 (aka .308 winchester). If you are deciding between these two I STRONGLY suggest the M1A in any configuration over the Mini 30. The M1A is WORTH way more than twice the Mini 30

The Springfield Armory M1A is a fine rifle made by a good company, and as SharonAnne said its worth more than twice the price of a mini 30.

I had several mini-30's and a few mini-14/ranch rifles . Liked the size . have had a M1-A for over 10 years but it was large to hunt with great on targets  . Well I have to agree with SA ( you said it and I agreed , after the election anything is possible ). Anyway traded the Rugers off for a M1-A Socom . Talk about the best of both , size and power/reliablity . Get one you will enjoy ! ( sorry SA it just looked good after enjoy )

If you can afford the LRB, great.  If not, go with the Springfield.  Great rifle that will easily do 2 MOA (not bad for a battle rifle) with good ammo.  I use mine for hunting as well, and though it is BIG you get used to carrying pretty quickly.  I have a pistol scope mounted on a scout rail.  This rifle does everything I need and I pretty much use it for everything that needs doing with a rifle.

Since i posted I bought a mini 30 ,mini 14 target,and finally a springfield m1a1 standard. I like all of them the mini 14 target is a tack driver better then any mini I have shot. The m1a1 is my favorite

Good luck with the M1A.  I love the way the springfield M1A scout rifles feel, but the $1500 price tag has always kept me away from it.  Those rifles are probably selling for a huge premium right now you'll probably be paying more than it's really worth because of the way the market is.

By the time i have seen guys buy an M1A ,and get it the way they want it they could buy an LRB and be done with it.
Call Smith Machine and ask then about the M1A rifles they get in to get them to be up to the standard an LRB is.
I did before buying mine , and smith will sure tell you why.
