Redfield 3400
« on: July 05, 2008, 04:51:21 PM »
I was recently given a old Redfield 24X scope which I assume is a model 3400. It is very long and the front ring must mount over the barrel. Does anyone know anything about this scope?

Thanks,

Siloram

Good timing, here's someone who wants to buy one.......I have two #3200's........the important thing to know is that you must have factory rings  that were supplied with that scope, they are specially made, rather over-engineered.  In 5 years, I have not found anything to replace these factory ring mounts only estimates from folk who never did it...........The #6400 is another shorter version, so those are the two models...........#3200 and #6400.  C-1

The redfield 3200 is an excellent scope. As condor1 says it's best if you have the redfield factory rings. But having said that I've used mine on a ruger # 1 1/2 (with ruger #1 buttstock) and #3 action in a cast bullet rifle. Why the redfield??. Can't see through the lyman super targetspot without my eyeglass lens almost at the rear end of the scope. And had a hard time seeing properly. The redfield is a larger diameter body and at 24x gives me plenty of eye relief and no problems squinting. Old eyes with cataracts. Frank
