Navy-Uberti
« on: August 03, 2003, 10:37:09 AM »
Want to buy high wall by Navy-Uberti but am not sure about strength of the gun, smoothness of action, and accuracy.  I have read most of the gun mags/authors comments but dont recall these things being addressed.  I dont plan on "hot rodding"  the gun but do plan on reloading.  The gun is for hunting  as well as cowboy action.  I plan on using only smokeless powder since cleaning black powder drives me nuts.  I own two Cimmarron single actions and could not be happier with them but a big bore rifle?   Can any of you guys help me out?  Thanks ---I appreciate it

Hi Strongbox!   I happen to have a Uberti Medium Sporter in 45-70. It has a 30 " bbl and weighs 10 lbs. Fit/finish and workmanship including the blue job are first rate. The action closes like a well oiled machine and tolerances seem to be tight. It shoots very accurately too. I have used commercial 300gr hp's as well as reloaded 405 rem bulk bullets and Hornady 500 grainers . It "really" likes the 405's with Rl 7 powder! You won't be disappointed if you buy one.                    Hiwallhunter.
