finally got my 308 together (pics)
« on: November 07, 2008, 01:32:32 PM »
I finally got it together enuff to go deer hunting  in the morning when it opens up.  Ill refinish it all to match in a couple of weeks.  Working on a beter scope just slapped on one I hadin the safe. Still got a nickle size group at 75+ yards.  Shooting off my picnic table and using a work coat as a rest.  ;D

This is the 308 barrel I still have to thread and cut down my 7.62x39 barrel.  You can shoot it all day without  hearing protection. Wife didnt even hear me shooting it from in the house.

Nice looking gun.

Is it legal?? What state are you in??
It would be a no-no here in gun hating NY

Just to rant for a moment...
I hate the fact that the idiots downstate dictate what us farm folks in upstate can and can't do.
I tried to vote some of them out but it didn't do me a damn bit of good.

Anyway...
I like it.
You did good work.

One other thing...
Nice car!!

Buy a farm in Arkansas ;D   Youcan hunt with anything as long as its 22 caliber and up and centerfire.
suppressed /full auto anything.   The can is for my sbr Ak and my micro galil both 7.62x39. I got the full auto rated can so I can shoot up to 300 win. mag thru it.

I like hunting suppressed .  You ever fire a 308 in a metal roofed deer stand?? :o  I also squirell and rabbit hunt with a suppressed 10/22.

They are all NFA items yes, they are legal. Im to pretty to go to jail.

Thats the wifes car.  I built it for her. I got it when they first came out this one had the whole side tore out of it.

Im a bodyman /painter.  My Tacoma I have now is the only thing I have purchased that was not wrecked. hahah

It helps knowing Fred and Garth Choate . ;D Its a choate check rest , but its made for there ultimate sniper stock.  I dont think they sell them by there self. I can ask if you like. It works great. It also matches perfect they also make the survivor stock. I also have a bipod slide for the Ultimate sniper stock Im going to put on it later.

Thats them. I dont ever hit there website. I usually just call when I need something.  The piece will have a small gap on the sides.  It fits tight with the screw , but I put a strip of double sided tape on mine. It helps to hold it in place while you drill for the screw anyway.

Where did you get your suppressor? Would it be legal in VA?

You can have one there.  Its a lot more simple than most think.

I would first ask your chief Law enforcement officer if he will sign your nfa papers. He can not legally say no unless there is a county law or something.  If he does you can do it on a trust and he can not say a thing.

Red Jacket fire-arms will send you out a packet of papers with your purchase and walk you thru them on the phone.  Its less questions than is on a yellow sheet.

A one time 200 dollar stamp. and a 6 to 8 week wait on your papers to clear.

This can is in the 450-475 range. I got the stainless full auto rate can because I use it on my AK47's also.

He has a little cheaper can , but  dont skimp here were are not talking 100 dollars.

I can use this can  effectively from 243-300 win mag.  You can shoot 22Lr, 223, etc.  , but it will not be as quiet as a 22 caliber can due to the baffle hole size. (you can still use it)

This can has no wipes , rubbers, etc . It is a stainlees baffle stack with a blast baffle and chamber.

to clean it you just take it apart (unscrews) and spray down the baffles with cleaner. I use shotgun spray choke cleaner .

Red Jacket fire arm's 1-225-448-3167 ask for Will tell him Bill said call. ;)
