I thought the original post was reasonable: Handgun for elk @ 200yds. I think 300yds is pushing it though. Elk are not bullet proof and a 375 JDJ is a lot of gun but...

shooterpunk here is something else that you can consider.  It's a 17" (including brake) .376 Steyr from MGM.  Factory cases and ammunition are available from Hornady.  I'm getting 2600 fps with 225 grain Hornady bullets and 2400 fps with 270 grain Hornady's. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot at an elk at 300 yards from a good rest with my 225 grain Hornady load.  Good luck with whatever you decide!

I love the look of that barrel and the ballistics of that .376 steyr, like a .375 JDJ but a little more power, i like it.

You might want to look at te 338 Federal-great round and factory ammo is available in about 5 loads

explain to me how to form 375 JDJ brass from the .444 please.  do you just run the .444 brass through the .375 JDJ die?

Yes it's that simple. Be sure to lube it tho so it doesn't stick.

I have been lubing the inside of my cases for some time now.
I lube every 5th one than after all my case prep is done I toss em into the tumbler to get off any unwanted lube so I don't foul my powder.
