Better Late Than Never
« on: November 10, 2008, 03:35:23 PM »
Hello,   I've been hovering around here for awhile and reading the posts. One post in particular hit home. It asked what I've done about my government. I took a long hard look and this is my answer, not enough just gripe, complain and vote. Time to change my ways so.... Any and all info pertaining to fed laws and bills being dreamed up in congress and in the louisiana capitol would be appreciated such as links to see for myself what they are up to. But please no partisan sites I want to see the stuff myself not anyone's spin on it. And before you ask I am registered republican but this is the first time I have voted a straight ticket. Thanks in advance for you're       response

Squirrelluck - here are a few places to start looking.  I believe all will take you to what is going on in the federal and your state's legislatures.  By the way, all of these links can be found on the federal site.  They have search features that allow you to search by bill number, or you can put terms in - like "assault weapons" , etc.  The more you search, the more you find.  Good luck with it.

I believe you are looking at it the right way.  I have seen certain bills described inaccurately by people or organizations with an agenda and when scrutinizing the bill myself, come away with the opposite opinion.  Also, as much as we might think that government is nothing but screwed up, when you get to looking, some things are done pretty well.  I think being able to access this type of information at your fingertips on the net is a whole lot less complicated as things were 20 years ago.  And thanks for caring about this country enough to learn and to do this.

POLITICIANS SHOULD BE LIMITED TO TWO TERMS - ONE IN OFFICE AND ONE IN PRISON.... Illinois already does this.
