One shot two down
« on: November 17, 2008, 11:42:13 AM »
I caught a group of pigs eating at my feeder today. I always wanted to try to get two with one shot. There was enough of them there so I didn't have to wait long. These two gave me the perfect shot. The bullet lodged just under the skin on the on the 2nd pig. I had been chasing this sounder for about 4 days now. I shot them with my 308 H&R

Mmmmmm, bacon.  Good shooting there.  I know they create all kinds of problems, but I kind of wish we had hogs here.   ;)

Mmmmmm, bacon.

That's "half-priced" bacon !!

I havent started reloading for the 308 yet. The ammo is from Wisconsin Cartridge. Its a 150gr psp at 2750fps. I havent checked to see what its running out of my gun yet. They were really cheap but I just checked and the price has gone up. After I shoot this batch up I'll start reloading for it. The bullet weighed 93grs after going through two pigs stopping just under the skin of the second one. It destroyed the front legs of the first pig. That one dropped right where she stood. The other one flopped a couple feet and stopped there.

Do these guys make their own bullets? If not it would be interesting to know what they use.

I got a chance last year with a 2fer1 shot....but I didn't plan it or even know it when I took the shot.   I was going out to fill up my feeder at about 230 in the afternoon.   I walked up with my ruger 44 carbine ready and saw a nice 70 lb porker. His head was down slowly checking the ground for food.  I placed the Red Dot scope just under his ear and touched off a round.  Pig went down and started the "twitch".   However I looked and counted 8 legs twitching!

Upon checking I discovered that the 70 pounder had his little brother (55 lb) feeding right beside him.
The 44 slug went through just below the ear on both pigs!.    Some days you just get lucky!..

Well I almost did it again. But I just took the front leg out on the second on it ran about fifty yards and collapsed and needed another shot. Again with the 308 handi.

I looked up the web site for the Wisconsin Cartridge Co. The sell reloaded ammo and Wolf.
The info I got for the 150 gr 308 Win shows a picture of the ammo box and cartridge. The box reads 150 gr PSPCL and the picture matches the Remington bullet.
Cor Lokts are tough and the picture of the expanded bullet after going into two hogs shows it!
