Cement;
You are so right ! I know a couple die-hard Dems who are hunters..just as some in this forum. When faced with the truth of the Dems gun-grab attempts, they all sing the same mantra..."They can never do it here"...
I bet that's what a lot of Germans were saying in 1932, as they voted for Hitler !

Brett, I thought Obama was paying us a compliment when he made that statement! I guess I just took it wrong. ;)

There are plenty of gun owners who really just don't get it - yet.  :'(

LIke I said before and the guys here who have served in the Military know what I'm talking about. There were just a few guys who no matter what didn't know when to STFU and get in line with the rest of us. They caused the rest of us alot of distress until, in the middle of the night they were givin what was refered to as  GI party. After that they either went AWOL or got in line. This is probably the most serous threat the 2ND ammendment has ever faced. Get in line whiners and bitchers, we have a common enemy here. We don't need crack in our defence, we need a solid wall.

I could have sworn he said he would not attack our gun rights! This is going to be a long 4 years!

http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=4227

I looked at the NRA site listing Obama's agenda.  I then went to Obama's website link and sure enough, everything the NRA related was listed on the agenda.  Today I went to Obama's website to send the link to a friend and show him the agenda and wonder of all wonders, it wasn't there.  Obama has changed the Agenda portion of his page and now list only the mission statement.  In today's Fox news http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/11/07/the-next-president-wants-to-hear-from-you/ , it states that Obama wants to hear from the people regarding his policies.  But nothing is listed in the new agenda as it seems that too many dissenters have posted opposition remarks to it.  So now the only thing on his agenda is a mission statement.
Quote
The Agenda
President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden have developed innovative approaches to challenge the status quo in Washington and to bring about the kind of change America needs.

The Obama Administration has a comprehensive and detailed agenda to carry out its policies. The principal priorities of the Obama Administration include: a plan to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm concerned should one post any opposition to his webpage.  I think it is another slight of hand to misdirect the American people and find out who his dissenters are and use the Internet as part of his Civilian Defense Force.  If he did not plan to follow his agenda, then why only issue a mission statement now and remove all references to his previous posted agenda?  Because the changes were radical in the extreme, as I've read it before it was revised.  Everyone on GBO should read the NRA link, as this was only a small portion of his intended goals and reflect what his policies are on other subjects.  Subjects ranged from inner city violence, to voting procedures, to Fairness Doctrine, to many Executive Orders that counteracted those of Bush and Reagan, to illegal immigration, to his Civilian Defense Force and his liberal economic policies.  None of which would be agreeable to almost everyone, who has posted on GBO.  Beware the sky is falling.

Now he is talking of using executive orders. With a Leftist congress and senate, I don't see them stopping him from imposing his will on America. This is the threat of an all Leftist government. The checks and balances are gone. I'm not exactly positive and if I am wrong, someone please correct me. But I believe that an executive order is the same as a duly passed law unless it is struck down by congress. TM7, Atlaw,  anyone more versed than me can you explain executive orders in a simple context for us all?

Obama has not even been sworn in yet and he and his cronies are already talking about pushing new gun control measures,  raiding our 401k's and threatening the use of executive orders in order to get his way.

Thank you very much to anyone who did not vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.  >:(

Obama team reviewing 'virtually every agency,' aide says

CNN) -- The head of President-elect Barack Obama's transition team said Sunday that the incoming administration is conducting an extensive review of President Bush's executive orders.

President-elect Barack Obama said he intends to move with "deliberate haste" in making appointments.
1 of 3

Asked about reports that the transition team already has identified a number of areas where Obama could issue executive orders as soon as he takes office, John Podesta said he would not "preview decisions that [Obama] has yet to make."

"I would say that as a candidate, Sen. Obama said that he wanted all the Bush executive orders reviewed and decide which ones should be kept and which ones should be repealed and which ones should be amended, and that process is going on. It's been undertaken," Podesta said Sunday on "Fox News."

Podesta pointed out that there is a lot the president can do without waiting for Congress, and voters can expect to see Obama do so to try and restore "a sense that the country is working on behalf of the common good."

COMMON GOOD.  God, how I hate that PC.  Who decides what is good for the common American.  That is what elections are for.  Just because a President is elected, it is not up to him to decide the common good.  I fear the socialists have arrived in power and the common good will be a Marxist society with all the propaganda, education, one party system, gun control and government stooges.  What a legacy we have left to our progeny!

Common good..one of those spin phrases again..who decides what "common good" is ? Reminds us of his claim that he believes in the 2nd amendment..but also believes in "sensible gun laws".
   Troy;
The term he used is "Civilian Security Force", a much more ominous term. Civil DEFENSE Force would tend to make people think in terms of defending civilians from outside forces and natural disasters. We already have the National Guard for that mission.
I tend to think such an arm of the federal government would easily switch from "Civilian Security"..to "Civilian Suppression". Who would be the core of his "Security Force"..the under-employed gang members in Chicago, Detroit and LA ?

A funny little man with an engaging oratory some decades ago came to power in Europe and brought along his "security force". He called his security force "brown shirts".

gr8gift, McCain carried my state of Texas, and many other 3rd party voters states did the same. Instead of taking CHEAP SHOTS at fellow gun owner like Brett did, we should be sticking together. I for one am all for unity but, I will defend myself from his type of behavior. It accomplishes NOTHING.
The truth is the American voting public on the Republican side passed over 2 fairly good prospects, and chose a very weak (and rightly so) candidate in McCain.
If he had not given Palin a call to join in, I think he would have done even worse.
We as gun owners will take a hosing from the liberal controlled government, but it is a shame that some here want to fight among ourselves, instead of sticking together. I for one do not forget such behavior.

Dee I agree with you 100%. We all "gun owners" need to stick together.

We shouldn't exaggerate any past differences in our efforts to retain the 2nd amendment.

Write hand written letters.  If you are afraid, mail it from the post office without a return address.  Flood him with letters opposing gun laws.  If he was flooded on the internet, flood with mail.  Flood with phone calls.  Keep up the pressure.

I would invite Obama to drive thru minnesota at 70 miles an hour with the low beams on between 11:00 and 7:00 AM in october. If he made it alive he would be handing out 30 round clips to everyone he saw!

If you are afraid of the internet then use handwritten correspondence or faxes.  If you are afraid of a 'bugged' telephone, use pre-paid telephone calling cards.

If you were stupid enough to vote for that communist, leave your guns and ammo for a smarter man or woman, and get the hell out.  If you whizzed and moaned that we all didn't like him because of this or that or something else and you thought we were wrong and created dissention within our ranks - get the hell out.

For those of us on our side (1) trust no democrat, liberal or unknown with questionable loyalties, unless you personally know this person to be willing to join with you and not compromise either your mission or location.  Band together in small groups of 3 or 4 and use little 'public' communication but lay out a well organized plan as to how carry out the various aspects of your operations.  Good prior preparation is the key to success.

Develop coded phrases and vary the locations of your gatherings; do not set patterns.  Elect one of your group to lead your operations and develop plans for each aspect of each operation you intend to conduct.  Train and equip yourselves, stockpile your supplies and be prepared.

Do it now, because that sob ain't gonna wait.  Remember that his 'executive orders' carry the force of law, and his civilian security force carries the force of the gun and when you put the two together you get that nasty little bunch of brown shirt socialists that Italy saw during WWII.  Just up the european continent in Germany, they called them Nazis and even further up they were called communists.  I do not give one loose squat about arguing the nature of their mission or philosophy, the sole focus of their purpose is to disarm you and leave you subject to the government.

I'm not saying that a bunch of 60-70 y/o Vietnam veterans should go lay in frozen foxholes coveting their warm Ensure while waiting to waylay the next convoy, but we can sure advise the younger men and women how to go about it.  And let's not forget those famous 'police buy back programs' - might well be one good place to 'stock up'  if you empty out their armory at the same time you 'restore firearms ownership' to civilians

Now, when is he going to act first and what will he do - I doubt he will wait for a natural disaster to strike so he can repeat new orleans but that would be his first legal opportunity to bring in his federal troops, and if you see them carrying rifles instead of unloading food and medical supplies you are already too late.  He can use any excuse he wants but the primary excuse will be that the military have been brought in to protect the citizenry.  Look for something he can use as an excuse during the winter - some sort of 'snow emergency' or weather emergency, such as when northern nys was frozen over for 2 weeks a couple of years back.

BTW - new metal 30 rn AK mags are goin' for $10 a pop in the Shotgun News.
