I had been using my Gamo 1000 .177 for squirrels behind the house so not to get neighbors nervous. This has worked nicely. I have an old marlin glenfield model 10 single shot 22 I bought many years ago from a JC Penney that was going out of business ($25.00). I was going to get rid of it a number of times because I don't use it, but decided to try to try it as kind of a 22 pellet gun. I put an extra 4x32 scope on it and bought some CCI CB 22 shorts and some Remington CBee 22 longs.
Sighting it in I was pleased to find it shoots 5 shot groups with both types of ammo that can be covered by a dime (sighted in at 25 yrds using my Nikon range finder).
I suspect the 30 GR Remingtons will take out a squirrel nicely, but I am wondering if the CCI CB shorts will reliably kill them. I hope to get out the crony to see the speed and calculate the energy.
How effective are these CB shorts on squirrels?
