I feel your pain. I takes me a long time to find boots that work. I take a 9 4e. For casual wear I usually shop for Dunham boots, they are the boot and leather shoe section of New Balance that specializes in wide sizes. I have some Dunham slip on wellington styles that I got from Sierra Trader that have been pretty good for pull on run-to-town or work around the yard boots. I wear them a lot and have worn out their water proofness in about 9 months. I got a pair of Dunham lace up light work boots from the same place but they are more like a high top tennis shoe and not as water proof as the advertisement says. For serious work boots and hunting boots you might try Wolverine brand. They offer 3E and 4E widths. I really like the durashock soles for being on your feet all day. For serious cold weather boots (down to -10 or -15 and active), some of the best I've found were some Lacrosse 1000 or 1200 gram Wide boots. The fit well and I have been very pleased how warm and dry I've stayed. But I can't find the same model any more. These are my main winter boot unless I'm going on a serious cold weather hunt that might see -20 or colder - then its some ancient white "Bunny Boots". I can't recall where I got the Lacrosses - a store in Anchorage I believe. I have a pair of 1000 gram Wolverines that have been pretty good in cold weather but the soles cracked deeply. Still stay dry and warm but I don't trust them like the Lacrosses for serious work. I got the Wolverines from Cabelas. I am pleased that Cabela's has increased their offerings of 4E or extra wide foot wear but not all of them appeal to me and I've tried a few that I had to send back that really didn't fit my foot. Sierra Traders has a good search system for the size of shoe / boot you need. I have also bought from Zappos, and Brown's New Balance ( do a google search for these). You might look for a specialty Red Wing store as they claim they make some 4E boots. I have an ancient pair of 3E boots that won't wear out and work well for me. HTH and Good Luck
