44-40 Smokeless Powder Loads
« on: August 10, 2003, 10:17:09 AM »
Howdy:

Does anyone have some favorite 44-40 loads for smokeless.  I know I can read the manufacturers manual, but I am more interested in seeing what is used as opposed to what is available. :-)

My CAS load is changing, but for years I have shot 7-1/2 gr of Unique with a 200 gr RNFP 44-40 bullet, either Bear Creek Moly coated or plain cast lead.  I varied that occasionally from 7 to 8 grains, but stayed generally at 7-1/2, for a Yellowboy and a Henry.  I have changed to Hogdon's Titegroup, 6 grains, and it works fine as well, and is a bit cleaner.
