laminate foreend
« on: November 16, 2008, 02:49:38 AM »
sorry if this is old stuff but where do i purchase a camo laminate foreend for a standard weight barrel(22 hornet) without checkering....had a very successful project yesterday...trigger job on a topper frame..you guys attempting this for the first time need to heed warnings posted here about checking the pull often so you don't overdo it...once the pull starts to go down via honing things start to happen real fast so check pull weight often...i also had good success with a spring type fish scale to measure pull  threaded a 2 inch split ring on triggerguard( you can "hang" this on the trigger and pull without the ring touching anything but the trigger) then i hooked the scale to the ring, cocked the hammer and held the reciever in my left hand with my hand anchored to my thigh, and pulled the ring on the other end of the scale with my right hand..worked real good once i figured out that i wasn't near fast enough to watch the hammer fall and then turn my head and read the scale( i actually did it twice that way) duhhhh...watch the scale, listen for the hammer to fall...works more better...one more time i'd like to say how happy i am to have found this forum..lots of great info and friendly.helpful folks...its great to be a part of this

IIRC Brownells just has the checkered variety... Guess its just the factory for the smooth ones...  Lessin' I have that backwards??  ::) ;D

Brownell's only carries the checkered when it's in stock, but they're out until December according to a previous post, H&R sells both when they're in stock which may be questionable now.

Gun Stocks Inc. has several different styles. These are semi finished. The barrel channel is cut but still has to have some material that needs to be removed to fit barrel. They have walnut and laminated. They dont come with the plastic piece that fits the receiver.  They are a little more expensive than the factory finished ones but they have a differnt look completly. I have several and I like them better than factory.
