Buffalo hunt
« on: November 15, 2008, 07:26:05 AM »
I shot this guy on a ranch here in Colorado.  I used my 375 JDJ at about 70 yards threw both lungs.  My load was a Hornady 270 spire point over a medium load of H322.  What was great was there was a rifle hunter there that shot 2 bulls, one with 3 shots the other with 4.  I asked him if he needed my services... ;D

JD HHI 6092, Very nice !  Congratulations!  What "class" did your bison come in under, calf, hiefer, or mature?  Do you know what the live weight vs. meat is going to be? Once again, nice job!

Not sure what class, it was just a shoot for meat.  I think he was s 3 yo bull.  I think the total amount of meat was about 250#'s.

Nice hunt and thanjs for the pics.  I'd expect your b ison to be a yearling.  They are usually about 1000lbs or less.  Meat yield is about 40% boned I think.
