Where o where are the 308 components!!!
« on: November 19, 2008, 02:23:44 PM »
Folks,
something is going on.  308 brass and bullets are getting hard (if not impossible) to find.  I can't find 308 brass anywhere.

I do not load for the 308, so I was not paying attention. My two favorite places to get brass is out, but I did search on some other sites and they still have some around. Cheaper Than Dirt was one place. Bullets are still available especially the premium bullets, but you have to look around and you may not get exactly what you want. Prices are way up though. I bought 1000 unfired LC 223 brass for $170 with shipping just a little over a month ago. Now they want $150 for 500 with out shipping :o The prices i saw on 308 brass, when they have it is also way up. >:(

would guess alot of production is going to Middle East . What was on hand here is being horded due to new pres. but that's just a guess . But an educated one since i saw 5 cases of 308 ammo go from one store in a couple days along with every thing else in 308 , 223, 7.62x39 etc etc
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I have been thinking :o Why would prices on be going up so fast for brass? Just about every thing else is going down in price. It is still a free market and it is based on supply and demand. Brass cost has almost doubled for 308 and 223. Why, because there are people willing to pay that much. We have a panic buying market and they are buying no matter the cost. The source I bought from has went up from $87/500 to $150/500. It is the same supply they had all along. They are getting people to buy it at $150 so they are going to charge it. No one in government is going to step in and tell them they are price gouging, because it is the gun industry, and we all know that gun people are evil. :(

"stores are out of everything here.  primmers and powder is down to nothing."

It has little or nothing to do with the war, you will find those components on the shelves of the  terrified hoarders amongst us.  Things will settle down and the shop's shelves will refill when they run out of money or storage space.

OB and the other Dems ARE likely to attack us, it's in their genes, but we will have plenty of time to panic as the  various political manauvers are going on.

Those who find solace in hoping the politicians will be too busy with serious stuff to mess with us for awhile should think back a few months ago when we also had serious problems but they jumped on the top problem like a trout on a June bug;; steriods in ball players!  It will be no problem for them to attack us between coffee breaks.

I think you are right wncchester. There is not going to be any legislation on Jan 20th. It will take a while and when it does it will come in baby steps. There is going to be plenty of time to get supplies. I have already laid in a bunch of stuff, but it had nothing to do with our new leader. I was planning on going on a PD hunt this next spring so I have a lot of 224 bullets and cases. I bought a large stash of 357 Max cases because, they were getting hard to find, I had a lot of 357 cases and 44 mag cases. etc. on cases. I made a large powder purchase and primer purchases because of my PD trip and while I was making a Haz mat order laid in a bunch of other powder as well. This kind of reminds me of the Y2K panic. If I do not shoot any more I will have a life time supply ;)
