Tikka Hunter 7mm-08 questions ...
« on: November 20, 2008, 05:25:21 AM »
For over a year now, I planned on a Tikka in 7mm-08 and now I am very close to ordering one. I have found some really good prices on the Hunter model from two sources as I originally was going with the T3 Lite in blue/synthetic. Since I have already bought dies, brass, and bullets, I'd say I am committed to the caliber at least.

My questions before I order ...

Is anyone not satisfied with their Tikka rifle and why?
Are the accuracy claims as good as most people say they are ... sub-moa? What are your consistent group sizes?
Has anyone received a walnut stock that they did not like?
Is the long action chamber a problem with the short action calibers?
Would you buy another Tikka?

With no responses, I suppose that means everyone is very satisfied with their Tikka. I guess that is what I wanted to hear.

I'm very pleased with my 308  and 22-250 T3's, very happy!

I didn't reply as I am always flying the Tikka flag. I have no experience with the walnut stock, I am extremely happy with the synthetic. Come rain, shine, cold or hot the synthetic holds same POI and dropping, bashing against climbing stands has no effect. It is 4.30am on the first day of TN gun season, my T3 lite in 308 is sitting beside me with 3 rounds in the magazine. The 243 will see some more action this season too, my stand today is in thick woods so the 308 gets the nod. Yep, I like Tikkas!

Thanks for the replies guys. I was kind of trying to give someone a chance to knock down the Tikka rifles but it hasn't happened yet. I still might order the synthetic as it fits my needs a little better but I was priced just $558 for the Hunter shipped! I like wood but I intend to really use this rifle so synthetic kind of makes more sense.

I went to a gun show today and then on to Cabela's to look at their used gun rack. In all, I looked at 5 Tikka rifles from a .223 to the .338. All rifles were the synthetic/blue except one was a stainless model. All these rifles handled great and two of them were scoped. I have yet to see a Hunter model in person but it doesn't matter as I will be happy with any of the Tikka models. Prices were decent on all of them but none were the caliber I am looking for. Looks like I am going to have to order one on the internet. Neither Cabela's or Sportsman's Warehouse could/would order one for me.
