This is my first year back dunk hunting after about a 20 year hiatus. I got back into bow hunting and couldn’t get away from that until this year when a friend asked about going duck hunting. Anyway I got back out in the mud and now I can’t seem to find the time to crawl back into my tree stands.
20/25 years ago I remember flocks of 75 to 100 mallards working the decoys at a time. Some time we would let that bunch land and wait for the ones above them trying to get in.
It seemed that the teal season was a little weak, but that always seemed you had to be where they had been working. If they were using a spot you damn near had to stand in the water to chase them away. At that time you could shoot 10- 10 point duck, i.e. pintail, shovelars, teal, gadwall and a number of other ducks
. I quit after the first year it was mandatory to use steel shot.
I was wondering if this is a normal year. It seemed to me that there were very few ducks
