I reload for the 25-35 Winchester, but that's in a Winchester pre-64 model 94.

I would suggest a good 100 grain bullet for the 14" barrel for deer.

I have a 15" 25/35 Contender , had a 10" for years , and it is a very good round.It will shoot a 117RNSP 2200fps
85BT 2500+ ,shoots cast bullets good . it is not a 250 Savage but it is a good barrel 100BT's 2300 . A 25/35AI is a very good round but there is not a lot wrong with the std barrel either. IMR3031 gives the best velocity with most bullet weights. Ball C looks promising as does H4895 but have been too busy working with some of my other barrels to spend a lot of time with the 25/35 --plan to do that this summer. 11.0/4759/85pb cast shot good out of my 10" and killed bunnys like lighting. Speer 100HP worked fine of the deer I shot with them. The 117RN punched both shoulders and required a finishing shot --wasn't going anywhere but wasn't dead either.

I have a VanHorn custom carbine barrel, 24", that I picked up second hand. Hadn't been fired when I got it. I broke it in with some 117gr. flat points from Sellier & Beloit that were shooting 1/2" groups at 50yd. I haven't fired more than 20 rounds through this barrel. But I love it. I'm thinking about having it cut down to a 14" for handgun carry, than maybe open it up to 25-35AI. I just need more time to play ith it. I have loaded up some Rem 100gr spitzers that I want to try as well as some 75 gr. Nosler BTs. But haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

Had a 10" oct. barrel a long time ago.  Key word is had.  If I had another one in a 14" of longer barrel it would get the AI treatment.
