A lot depends on what you will be doing with the rifle , were you will be using it and what you will be shooting in it . If it is to be a toss around truck / 4 wheeler gun then the plain ( Pallet-Wood ) stocks will do fine .

If it is going to be in a high moisture area or a boat then I like the Syn. ( Tupperware ) they also lend themselves to adding a ton of extra weight if your goal is to load it to upper Levergun or even lower Ruger level loads .

I , myself like both as they take paint very well to add to my color skeem .

Plastic has no soul.
It is durable though and won't get banged up.

I like wood stocks.
I strip off the nasty stain from the factory and redo them.
Most of the time, there is a nice lookin' stock under that factory stain.

Depends what you're gonna do with it.

You're on the right track with the 45-70 for sure.

Alot of us have 'em and they are great shooters.
