I'm kinda shocked though, where do you live? 65 lb is small for even a fawn here in MN. No insult intended, just it must be true that deer are bigger up north.
Winchester VA.
Spots run up to about 35/40 lb, yearlings will hit around 75, and mature does will average 115 up to about 140.
Last year we did have an older doe that went 192 lb taken late in the season by one of my friends just across the road from me.
Bucks run about 140 for the younger ones and up to about 190 for a good mature one.
The heaviest one I ever took weighed in at 217 on a 5 year old 11pt.
They don't get much of a chance to get that old around these parts.
I would guess that the average age of a buck taken around this area is 2 to 3&1/2 years old.
The last two or three years all we have taken on my farm is younger does, or suit case charlies as we call them!
I own and live on a 240 acre farm that is surrounded by subdivisions and they will shoot anything that has horns, including cows.
Over the years we have had 7 cows shot , two horses and my dog, along with my sister and my self being shot at.
We are only about 80 miles west of Washington DC and get a lot of the city nuts that come out our way to try and kill Bambi!!
Of course tresspassing has always been a problem along with spot lighting.
I use to confront them but with the nuts out there now a days, not any more.
