Problem with my buffalo classic?

I shot my buffalo classic a bit today and observed an interesting problem that I thought was happening the last time I shot it, too. It's pretty new and these two times are the only trips I have taken it to the range.

Anyway, I swear that as I shoot and the barrel heats up, the point of impact moves high and left. I was shooting it at 25 yards to get a new sight on paper. After I stopped adjusting the sight, I observed my point of impact move 6 to 8 inches high and left.

Has anyone noticed a problem like this with their rifles? It's frustrating, the say the least.

I would look for some other problem, at 25 yards that is way too much change for it to be just from barrel heating.  Larry

Read the Handi Basics 101 sticky, shoot it without the forend, if it doesn't do it, it's forend fit causing the problem, but I agree with Larry, that's an awful lot of movement at 25yds just from heating. What load are you shooting?

I'll try that tomorrow. I read that FAQ and found a washer that fits in there nicely to relieve any pressure from the forend. A sheet of paper easily slides the whole way down to the forend bolt.

The purpose of the trip was to test a new handload so it was a handload with a cast lead bullet, 405gr, over 45gr of Reloder 7.

Kinda been there, done that with the B.C.  I was about ready to trash it until I read the FAQ's about the foreend.  With Rem Green box, and a foreend that does not bind, I can place 3 touching at 50 yds off a rest.  At 100 I open up to an avg. of 1 1/2", but I have an eye problem that may be causing some of that.

Without the scope I can't focus at 100, even with glasses on. 

Lose the foreend, and try the cheap Rem.'s and you might be surprised. 

I later bought some Buffalo Bore at Tim's suggestion for hot loads. I was hoping for something flatter shooting.  My shoulder is flatter.   So far I've shot about half a box, and I may save the rest until I'm attacked by an elephant. The Rems will stop anything in my neck of the woods.

I suppose me flinching is always a possibility, but I felt good about all of these shots. They all broke clean and surprised me a bit like they should.

Forend fit isn't just about clearing the barrel, how tight it fits the frame also affects accuracy, considering that a Handi will usually shoot real well without the forend makes me want to make it fit just snug enough to stay on without the forend screw, so that's what I do, see Forend fit in the FAQs. That and trying a pressure point at the forend tip work for me 99% of the time.

I think forearm pressure was the problem, that was just exacerbated by barrel heating. I put that o-ring on the barrel lug and shot it today and it was greatly improved.
