Sorry Bill, I guess you bought land up by me in Montana, cause I just got back with 4 more deer (7 total) that took 280's or, the old gal, 35 Rem. Got rid of all my magnums except the 257 that I wanted for years and finally got. Still haven't used it on an animal, no real need I guess, just sneek closer. There are alot of places around here you can see several miles, so at some point in time I'm sure I'll use it on something. But I agree 100%, don't need magnums to kill deer or elk or even moose. l've seen to many put down with out em. Also seen alot of guys that got that "new magnum" just for this hunt that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it, too scared of the kick. Proved it to one guy, asked to see his new toy, racked the bolt but put the round back in the magazine and handed it back to him to make sure the scope was still on. Pushed the gun so hard it was aiming about 10 ft in front of us when it didn't go bang. Thats enough from me, just hope everyone had a good hunt, ours ends today. I filled all my tags for deer and the 14 yr old boy got a nice buck so a very good year here. DP
