Missouri Hunter Fights With Deer
« on: December 02, 2008, 04:04:31 PM »
I just read where a Sedalia hunter shot a 9 point buck twice with his 270. As he approached the apparently dead deer, it jump up and attacked him.  The deer knocked him to the ground.  As it walked away the hunter shot the buck twice more before it fell to the ground, this time dead.  The hunter suffered a concussion and chest injuries.   He received needed medical treatment and is recovering from the encounter.

Any of the rest of you engage a deer hand to hoof?

Now that fellow either needs to learn to shoot or to sight in his rifle correctly. No way a properly hit deer with two .270 slugs in him should get up and fight with the hunter. Should also teach him the proper way to approach a down deer and check it's status.

Here is a link to the story including a photo.  http://www.sedaliademocrat.com/news/sedalia_13125___article.html/headache_season.html

Apparently the hunter suffered scalp wounds and a mild concussion.  He also suffered bruises to his chest and arm.

I agree with Greybeard this fellow needs some serious training or maybe he should just stay at home so the rest of us will be safe. Also in Missouri it is the law that you wear hunter orange , not camo, during firearms season.
