mauser 93
« on: January 22, 2009, 04:22:25 PM »
i was wondering if the 93 mauser bolt shroud would interchange with a bolt shroud off a 96 or a 98. i am looking for a sporter shroud for a 93 but only 96's and 98's are listed in brownells. all info is appreciated.

What mauser 93 are you talking about?  The 1893 chilean 7mm mauser?  This mauser has a flat bottom bolt while the 1895 chilean 7mm mauser has the round bolt if i'm correct.  The 93, 95 & 96 are small ring mausers.

The 98's are larger ring mausers.  I know the german 98k bolt will interchange with the turk m38 receiver too i've done it and it did headspace correctly too.  My 98 bolt was loose in my 98 project gun and the turk bolt was tighter in my 98 and the 98 bolt was tighter in my turk m38 mauser go figure.

Have you checked at www.e-gunparts.com

I don't think the 96 bolt will fit a 93.  My chilean 7mm mauser bolt won't go in the 96 swede mauser of visa versa. You need another flat bottom bolt.

he's looking for a bolt shroud not a bolt...since the 93 Mauser evolved into a 95 and the 95 evolved into the 98, maybe the shroud on a Mauser 98 will work for the Mauser 93...there might be a problem since the 93 and 95 are small ring and the 98 large ring, but it might work since your talking bout the bolt shroud not the whole bolt....JimP.

The 98 wouldn't fit.  The 96 might.  The 93 and 96 are very similar ,both cock on closing actions.  Large or small receiver rings have nothing to do with the shroud.  Best bet would be to ask Brownell's, they have people there just to answer such questions.
