Handi Bug Bites Again (.444 SS Ultra Thumbhole)
« on: December 03, 2008, 01:23:57 PM »
I was in a local gun shop today and they had a .444 ss ultra thumbhole on the shelf.  I couldn't pass it up.  My 45/70 now has a stable mate in the gun safe.

Well, in true handi-holic form, I am already replacing the cinnamon thumbhole laminate set with my camo laminate set.. ala Quick's 45-70.  I'm not sure if I am going to put the cinnamon set on my 45-70 or put them in the classifieds.  I now need to pick out a scope too.

Does anyone make a stainless or silver scope rail?

Kendall,

is the thumbhole stock ambidextrous? I'm left handed and that's why I ask.

The short answer is no.  I am right handed, but I always practice off-hand shooting and have no trouble shooting lefty with it, but it just isn't the comfortable instinctive grip.  It is made for right handed shooters.

I also found the silver scope base in the FAQ, Duh...
