« on: December 01, 2008, 12:20:19 PM »
i am planning to get back into hunter pistol shooting and can't find my data on loading the .270 ren. i think if memory serves me h110 behind a 90 grain sierra was about 8 grains. what do you load for a mild recoil/ accurate round using the sierra bullet that i still have many hundreds of - any powder is ok.

Hello aguncrank, My Sierra 3rd edition Handgun Reloading Manual lists 9.2 (nine point two) grains of H-110 as the starting load for the 90 grain HP and 11.0 (eleven) grains as the Max load.
The data used a Win. case, Federal 205M primer and was tested in a 10" Contender.
The starting load produced 1400 fps and the max load gave 1700 fps.
Hope this helps!

GOOD SHOOTING!

I haven't shot mine in years....shame on me.  My load was 90gr Sierra over 11.0gr H110.  This was a MAX load.....work up to it.  It is also the max load listed in the Sierra Manual.  I can't find any notes showing accuaracy at lesser loads...sorry.  This IS a fun little round!!!  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :D

Aguncrank,
You might consider popping over to Midway or one of the other suppliers and purchasing a copy of "The Complete Reloading Manual for the TC Contender" Vol. 1.  It lists several loads for the 270 REN as well as nearly every other cartridge that the TC Contender has been loading in.  I bought Volumes 1 & 2.  They both are handy and have some interesting information about all the cartridges as well.  I also think there is a "Complete" manual with both books bound together.

The manuals are published by Loadbooks USA.
