This has never been a very active forum even on the old software. Dunno why I really thought it might be as they are a pretty popular gun but apparently not with folks who visit my site. Still I leave it up in case some fans of it drop in.

Don't feel too lonesome, I have a Sig 220 and a 226 that have always done anything I've asked of them. Great pistols guess when they work as well as they do not much left to say. :-)

I have a P245 that I carry. I have found that for me the entire Sig line handles and points better than any other. I just dont post much about carry guns. While I have more than one they are not where my real interests fall when it comes to having fun with a gun.

Love the SIG

I have a SIG P220 classic, and I love it.

Great handling, smooth action, and never-fail reliability (so far).

My wife is a little unnerved by it's "lack of safety features" compared to her Beretta, but she wants a .45 now too.  So I guess it ain't so bad in her eyes.

SIGs rock.

Best? Aye, there's the rub
« Reply #6 on: December 27, 2002, 01:41:52 AM »
After all, "best" is a highly variable statement when left unqualified.  I don't think I can imagine a more beautiful design than the Colt Patterson - but don't ask me to carry one in a firefight!  Beauty of workmanship and functionality has to go to the Smith Model 3, and for their day they were the best.  Frankly, I think SIG's are ugly, and I got one, or I wouldn't be here.  Don't misunderstand, I'm proud of my 239 in .40/.357SIG, and it is my choice for carry, but don't ask for my picture with it!

Just my $.02, and probably not worth that!

Most of us who own Sigs and are fans also own 1911's or some others.
We visit the site from time too time too see if there is a new report or too help out.
Sigs are pretty darn good. There is little too defend or say say about a good, reliable weapon.

I have three, SP2340, P225, and a P239. This is sort of like picking a favorite child. Each one has it's own, special place. The SP2340 in .40 was my first it was cheap, $ 515 out the door. Now with over 3500 rounds down the pipe and NEVER a failure. Looks as good as ever and soaks up the hottest .40 recoil with ease. Like me though it has a girth issue so it rarely gets to go out on the town in the summer. The P225 is like a gifted child, it does everything with ease. Small enough to not stand out in a crowd, but it's grip must have been custom fitted to my hand. My P239 in .40 S&W is like having Charles Barkley in the holster a little too short a little to heavy but a little too powerful inside is a good thing. My carry weapons don't have the legs that a Glock does but I have no illusions of putting down an insurrection singlehandedly. Those are my baby's, and what I see in them, you can see what you want.

Carrying a Sig is kinda like taking your sister to the dance, you ain't proud of the fact, but you can always count on her when the chips are down.

I have been a Sig fan for many years, and have often stated, "If my butt is ever on the line again, I hope I am packing a Sig."

Maybe it is ugly, but it is dependable, accurate, and won't leave you with an empty feeling.............Did I say I Love my Sig (s)?

I have a P220 that I carried on duty for a number of years. Never, ever gives me any trouble. Just point and shoot. I love it. I've forgot how many founds I've fired through it. Just keep it clean, light oil and it's good to go ANY WHERE, ANY TIME!!!  :) :) :) :)
I shoot first, and don't ask questions.

;D  I carry a Sig 245 and feel as though I am well heeled in the armed department, just plain reliable and accurate and a little easier to hide than my two 10 mm, Glock 20  and Colt Delta Elite.   :)

I'm a retired LEO, and I've had a bunch of Sigs, they always work and I've trusted them with my safe keeping for years.  My favorites have always been the 220s and the 229s.  I like Sigs well enough that I chose another Sig 220 for my retirement gun.
One of my current favorite Sigs is a GSR 1911.  I can truthfully say that I've never had a bad SIG.

I bought a 226 in .40 because that is what I carry at work. It took me a long time and alot of shooting to see anything positive about it. Now that I am accustom to it, I can tell that it is very accurate , possibly more accurate than my Glock 34. Not so accurate as my S&W 25-5 however. Every time I shoot it, (mine or the companies) I like it a little more. The thing is surerbly reliable, it will feed empty cases into the chamber from the mag just as smoothly as loaded ones. I do have two criticisms that will not change however, it is very bulky and its ergonomics don't come close to Glocks. When shooting the glock 34 it is as though it is an extension of my arm and points naturally at the target. With my Sig I have to work at it and make a conscious effort at grip and trigger control.
People are like slinkies, they serve no purpose yet they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

this is not meant as a cut to Sig , BUT i owned - 1-220 , 2-226's , 1-225 , 1-228 , 2-239's & a 230 . all well built but none were considered Best .
If i want a single action auto then the 1911 is it !
if i want double action the i don't want all the decockers and controls . If i ever need a gun i don't want options i want to pull the trigger and see results . They all seemed somewhat behind the times ( IMHO ) and no i have not tried the new ones . Only posted to point out why I and maybe others are not fans . As far as a target gun it seemed good .
And i did not complain about the single action first shot double action next shot ! really don't see that as a big deal .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

As far as not wanting a decocker on a sig. Well take a dremel and cut it off. or remove it propely. I have no idea what other controls a sig 220/226 etc has except a trigger. and a good one at that.DA/SA The sig is about the most intuative gun out there. If you don't have a pistol with a decocker.. Then point it far away from me when you gently lower that hammer. And no "corn on the cob" before shooting! Or bug spray! Or girly hand lotion! Heck you can't grab a tackle box even!

de-cock ? I just flip the frame mounted safety up why de-cock a 1911 on a loaded chamber ? why have 2 trigger pulls ?
No one has mentioned the fact the bore is high to the grip .
how did the Best get determined ? sales ? price ?

There's no such thing as the best from a practical standpoints. Of course, from a technological standpoint, SIG' are, unquestionably the finest. ;D

Some things can't be argued. Blondes are more attractive, no pizza is complete without anchovies, and somebody asked a question that has no answer. Just opinions. ::)
