Headin' out for a late season elk hunt with my handi
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:13:02 PM »
Well, after 20 years of trying to draw an archery bull
tag in AZ  >:( (and drawn 2, killed 1), I decided to put in
for a rifle cow tag.

Actually got drawn!  ;D  I head out tommorrow with my
270 ultra comp handi in search of some meat..  The gun
is shooting great!

Hopefully, I'll have a story and some pics to post
soon...

Mike

As always, we vicariously hope for a successful hunt for you. Even if you don't kill anything (and especially if you do), a story and pics of your hunt would be roundly appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, what ammo are you using that is so accurate?

I only shoot handloads....

I've been using Remington nickel brass, cci primers and max loads of H-4831
with either 130 grain nosler or sierra bullets.  (they have been my mule deer
loads... if I put in in the boiler room, it'll kill an elk - at least a cow...)

They've both shot under an inch at 100 yards and both bullets have same
impact point.  Which is a 1st for me.

Hope to take my first big game animal with the Handi!
