first handi kill
« on: December 06, 2008, 04:39:29 AM »
Was out this morning with my 44 mag handi .Had a doe pop up about 50 yards away and looks right at me.Fired a 255 grain lead flat nose at here and nailed her in the chest.Took another shot to put her down for good.It was the best drag I have ever had 50 yards down hill right to my truck. My buddy and I got out of the truck at 7 am and had her loaded in by 8 am.This is my first kill with my handi and with hand loads.Sorry no pics did not take the camera out at all this year , We had tons of rain on opening day and then dumped on by snow like 2 to 3 foot .This was only the third deer I have seen in our 3 week season. It has been a very poor season.

Congrats Wayne!
I assume both 255 grain cast bullets gave complete pass throughs?

GOOD SHOOTING!

Both shot were pass threw.I have no idea what fps that the 255s are running.I load them over a healthy dose of 2400.I realy like this gun it  will shoot great with any load and bullet I put in it from 240 and 270  and 300 grain jacketed soft point to 255 and 310 grain hard cast. All of these loads will shoot in a six inch circle at 50 yards.

Are you using a scope on that .44 or the factory irons?

I have a simmons 4x pro diamond shotgun scope on it.Works great for up to a 100 yards which I feel is my max with this rifle.
