Savage Model 99A
« on: December 09, 2008, 01:13:57 AM »
Hello all

My father has a model 99A lever action chambered in a 300 savage that was his grandfather's rifle.  The rifle is in near mint condition with a few nicks and scrapes.  The barrel appears to be in great condition (blue).  Not that I am looking to sell it but my dad keeps asking what I think it is worth, and all the research I do gives me a wide range ($400->$1000).  Any suggestions or places to look would be great.  Thanks everyone!

There are several configurations or model desiginations.

[There are several configurations or model desiginations. Pics would help]

Biohazzard Monk has posted the model/config, of which there was only a single one - the 99A.

The nicks/scrapes would put a nice, older, collector's item .300 Savage into the shooter class - and depending upon exactly where, how good/bad/deep they are would range it anywhere from $550-$650.

Pristine examples ARE valued at $1,000+, and grey rats less ($350 +/- )

Thanks for the info!  I will try and get my dad to take some pics and post them here.  Thanks again!

Update:  I talked to my father last night and got the serial number, based from savage99.com, the rifle was manufactured somewhere around 1946.
