New to Knight
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:09:30 AM »
Got a KP1 and have been shooting some BH209 and speer 44 cals with the green hornady sabot with decent results for the iron sights(scope base is on order). My question is: "What is the best way to load the knight FPJs?" I have been using...(I'm embarrassed to say) some rubber coated pliers that are normally used to break glass. What do you guys do? Also how do you get the spent primers out?

Thanks for the help.
Ryan

They make a tool for pressing the primer in the jacket. It cost 9 bucks at bass pro. I have one it is just plastic but it works just fine and I also just toss the used ones.      clint

take a square of hardwood ... about 2"x2"x1"  in the center, drill a hole clear through a bit larger than the small end of the fpj, then drill a hole into that one about 1/4" deep that is slightly bigger than the larger end of the fpj.

Place 209 primer on flat, smooth surface, align fpg on primer, push on snug using small center hole in block of wood.  To remove, insert larger end of fpj into larger hole and tap out spent primer with a punch or small dowel of the right size.  You could get real creative and devise a little stand for the block of wood so you wouldn't need to empty the spent primer each time.

Or, just pitch 'em and buy new ones.   ;D
