I don't know fellows, He got a lot of time for a relatively small crime.  IMO, the kidnapping charge was quite a stretch.

He detained a few people for 20 minutes.  How long can the police detain a person without arresting them?  O.J. should have made a citizens arrest?

I know this sounds like I'm an O.J. fan and I'm quite the opposite.  However, the integrity of the courts is paramount to a free society.  The american justice system is very unpredictable and not consistent in sentencing.  Mary Winkler got 276 days for shooting her husband in the back while he laid sleeping in his bed.  Mike Vick is another example of over reaction IMO.

Karma could catch up to any of us these days.  It's a bizzaro world we live in now.

You would think he would keep his nose clean after getting away with murder.
He's just too stupid to stay out of trouble.
He deserves to be in prison.

He is not too stupid to stay out of trouble. He is too narcissistic to think he would go to jail.

Prision is to good for the murder. Those poeple think he is a hero. He has stuck his finger at the man. He is not a murder white america framed him and he proved it. I would like to see real justice. I agree about the verdict.... seems real stiff for what he did. He was found not guilty of his murder trial so this should not play into the verdict but maybye justice has just prevailed

If you "detain" anyone by force that is kidnapping.  So stop thinking he didn't do anything real bad because he did.  What he did was the same as a home invasion.  Too bad he didn't pull that sh$t at my house.  I would have saved the courts a whole lot of time and money ;D

In my opinion the OJ case is a perfect example of how screwed up our judicial system really is. Remember the saying two wrongs don't make a right?  Well, two wrong rulings/sentences doesn't equal justice. The irony of it all is he actually got what he deserved.

The first 6 or 7 years of his sentence is solitary confinment. Probably because of his notariaty. I watched part of his statement to the judge. Kept claiming he was only trying to get back what was stolen from him. He said he had seen objects from his collection on ebay, and was just trying to collect.  gypsyman

I didn't know he got solitary, kinda cuts the odds a bit. I reckon he really will do some time. A local steak house in Lou refused to serve him and his group last derby. The owner himself asked him to leave, he was a friend of the Goldmans. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I think the judge looked at his past. If a person gets out of a murder(where
he should not) they tend to lay low, not Orange Juice he writes a book about it
and tries to stay in the lime light. Most people would keep their nose clean
not O.J. he has to kidnap and rob folks.
Buy the way if it were you being held at gun point for 20 minutes would you
still say oh it was nothing.

TM7,
I makes no difference in who, what and how it was got (OJ's stuff).  Fact is OJ walked into a room with his friends (which had guns) and forced the people inside to stay down.  That is an invasion. Period. Case closed.

Now, if the people did have some of OJ's stuff he (OJ) should have called the police or got a lawyer.  I think OJ can find a good lawyer...don't you?

He was convicted of multiple felonies...all carried some pretty hefty jail time on each one...he got way less than max.

If someone had a bunch of my stuff at their place,  I'd probably be breaking some laws to gather up my guns and pals and go get the stuff myself....guess ya have to use your head.
You are judged by a jury.  If they think you deserve to go free you will, if not, you will go to jail.

Some years back a man's son was kidnapped at an early age, the criminal who took him kept him for years. When the cops found the kidnapper and the boy and were bringing them back home,  the dad just walked up and shot the man that took his son, killed him on the spot, while he was in custody. Jury said, innocent.  So I guess there are times when a jury comes in handy after all.

I would suppose if that jury was not to upset about anyone stealing OJ's stuff...I guess they just convicted him of the felonies that he did commit.

I still have no sympathy for him. But, I would like to know, did he make out police reports in years past, on the items he had stolen? Or where the items part of the Goldman lawsuit? If that's the case, they were not stolen, they were part of the settlement. Been thru armed robberys and a shootout. He got what he deserved. gypsyman

Jim, yes, she filed many reports on him and called 911 on him numerous times, but not much came of it because he was the popular Juice at the time.

All I know is if I thought someone had my property in their position, I would call the police and let them sort it out through the courts. Yea you might be pissed at the time but you would not be heading to jail for many years. To be honest unless that stuff was worth over a million dollars I would not even think of taking such actions. Even then I probably would just call the police. I spent 2 days in jail when I was about 24 years old. It was over a suspended Drivers License. Those were about the worst 2 days in my life. I decided right then and there that is a place I will never go back to. I would in all reality kill my self if that is all I had to look forward to for 10 years or better. Dale
