The forest is alive with bees, wasps, and flying insects pollenating the emerging "flowers" of the wild grape vine. It looks to be a bumper crop too. Their clusters of flowers indicate that soon the grapes themselves will be growing in profusion. I have had days of tractoring when one can stop by the vine and eat his fill of the dark colored sweet fruit.
I try to fertilize this native plant at my place, which is so prevalent throughout Florida and the SE. Its tangle of vines will engulf a tree and may even kill the host support system; robbing it of moisture, nutrients, and sunlight. However, pines and oaks are hardy and the tangles provide security and shade for wildlife when it isn't producing fruit.
