Leupold Ultimate Slam 3-9x40 Muzzleloader/Shotgun Scope
« on: December 14, 2008, 12:52:08 AM »
Has anyone been using one of these scopes in the 3-9 or 2-7? If so could you tell me how you like it?

Also, where is the best place to buy at the lowest price? Thanks!

Ebay would be the cheapest pace to get one.

On the average inline muzzleloader the 3-9 would be better.  The smaller scope would offer no advantage.

I am a Leupold fan and have a Leupold on a muzzle loader, but it is a 2 1/2X power. The last deer I killed with it was at a lazered 289 yrds. I personally see no reason to carry a larger scope for hunting. If you going to be target shooting the 3 x 9 would be better, but mine is for hunting only.

For hunting I see no reason to suffer with a low powered scope.  The 3-9s are cheaper and work perfectly for all applications.

BS,

I bought my first 3-9x40 at BH ($229.99), I bought my second 3-9x40 at Midsouth ($233.65). I figured I would rather give my money to a company that deals in the hunting industry. Midsouth didnt have any in stock when I ordered the first, and now they are on order again. I ordered from Midsouth on Monday, was on my doorstep Wednesday. I checked Midsouth and they reduced the price to $223.22 a day or two after I ordered, dang it! But, they are now "ON Order" again with an expected arrival date of 1-20-09. So now Midsouth has the best price on the Matte 3-9x40 ($223.22), but are out of stock.

BH has the best prices on the 2-7x33's ($199.95) and the silver 3-9x40 ($209.95) that I have seen.

One of mine is going on a new .50 cal H&R Sidekick Magnum, and the other is going on a new .45 cal Knight Disc Elite.
