Ghillie Suit ???
« on: June 28, 2009, 03:20:31 PM »
Anyone here have any experience with any of the ghillie suits avialable today? Most of our hunting property is planted pines. I had a thought to get one and still hunt through them. There seem to be many available just by doing a google search. I don't want to get a piece of junk, but cost is a big factor too. Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.

I have one of the cheaper suits for turkey hunting.  A ghillie suit works best when you are still.  the 3D cammo allows the right type of movement as well as breaking up your silhoutte.  You look like a bush rather than a person.
For moving snag free standard cammo works best.

Do you mind if I ask where you got it? How well do you like it, any drawbacks to it?

I do plan on remaining still the majority of the time. My plan was to go in these thick areas with a minimum amount of stuff, not pop up a blind and sit. I like the idea of being able to slip in quietly, find a likely area and be able to just stay with my silhouette not being a problem. No plans on moving constantly, only if I feel the need. I just like to keep my pack light and the less cumbersome the gear, the better I like it.

Samw thing I do.
I stick them in the back pack and walk into the woods and once we get set up i will slide into the 3D suit.
