Remington 870 Tactical Add ons, which one's?
« on: December 06, 2008, 04:57:19 PM »
I have a 21" 870 Turkey model.  I am going to transform it into a 3 gun type tactical shotgun.  I will need a mag extension and I'm not sure what else or which brand would be the best-Choate, tac star, etc.  Could anyone let me know what would be a good extender, how many I can add to it without going past the end of the barrel, as per shotgun rules, would you want anything else like the larger safety, side saddle or anything else?  It has a vent rib on the shotgun and I will need to pick up another choke, would an improved cylinder work or what would you recommend?

If you have any pics I'd love to see them.

Thanks,

Bob

*Click the link to see pics of mine(this is stock from Remington, kinda hard to find so when I walked into Gander and saw it, needless to say it came home with me). There are several pics of it so scroll thru the thread.

The term "tactical" is frowned upon by some around here so if you get the naysayers posting, ignore them :)

#1. Leave the safety as is.

#2. For extra shells, you could go the side saddle route or get a Blackhawk or Eagle pack for your stock. This allows you to hold extra shells + you get a zippered pouch to store little accessories. The eagle pack is made better than the blackhawks in my opinion and cost is about the same. The Eagle also has a better material for your cheek to rest on. It makes a big difference on my 700 Police. I'm ordering a Eagle for my 870 Tactical Mag(picture will be attached) and will tell you how I like it. I had a blackhawk on my other 870 and it was nice but am glad I owned both to do a fair comparison. ** You can see the Eagle pack on my 700 in my Signature pic. You can get it in black, Olive like mine, or tan. You would obviously want the shotgun model.

#3. IC (Improved Cylinder) works very well for all around use(I use it for slugs/00 Buck/4 Buck), I suggest that but a Modified will work fine too.

#4. Magazine etension: I have a 20" barrel and it sticks past the barrel maybe .5" so you'll be fine with the 3 shot extender with yours  ;D

I think I covered all points, hope that helped. By the way, "Ashley" (Yes I named it) is my favorite 870, well my Wingmaster comes close but there's just something about the Tactical that just makes me  ;D and  ;) and  :o every time I look at her

The is a forum dedicated to tactical shotguns.  I have found it very useful.  Great guys over there.
