rossi 357 ss snubbie, any good.

   So how is the quality on the new rossi 357 snub nose satinless guns?   Been looking to up grade from a 38 special 2" rossi I have owned for 15 years to a 357 stainless.  The 38 I have has been fine.  The main reason for the upgrade would be slightly tougher 357 foremat still will most likely shoot 38 plus p's,  and a stainless up grade for less worries about the surface rust that happen on a vehicle carried gun  The vehicle carried gun is leagal in my state.  Opinions?

I hear people say, and my own experience bears it out, that owning a Rossi or Taurus revolver is a bit of a crap shoot.  If you own one that works then hang on to it.  However, many refuse to work even after a return trip to the factory.

Every 5-shot Rossi Model 68 or 88 revolver I have seen works flawlessly.  I've owned 3 of them over the years and still have one.  They're an inexpensive copy of a S&W Chief's Special and work well for about half the cost.  They seem to all be keepers.

My neighbor bought a Rossi 6-shot .357 mag and it was total junk.  Stopped working after 200 rounds of .38 Special ammo had been put through it.  Rossi voided his warranty because he shot a cylinder full of his buddy's .38 Special reloads through it.  His mistake was in being too honest to the Rossi rep on the phone.

I know of two other Rossi .357 mag revolvers that experienced serious mechanical issues.

Personally, I would rather have a used S&W .357 than a new Rossi but that's just one man's opinion.

Did some reading on the net in other places after securing a model number.  Seems most are very down on the quality.  My old five shot was as you said good quality for cost and performed well.  To bad the could not get the new ss 357 sox shot right its a very nice piece for 300.    But after all the bad opinion I will pass.   Thanks for your response.  SN

 i bought the gun you are talking about.. first one went bad in about 2 weeks .. the dealer found an broken screw in dn next to the trigger.. so i got another.. in less than 2 weeks it was kicking the trigger back when i  tried to fire it..ive suspected that mabe shooting plus p 38s might have been more than it could stand..have no real idea.. i do know that gods country here quit selling the rossi after that.
 they gave me an p225 sig and i left there happy... ive since ended up with the same gun in 38 smith an wesson 60 .. wouldn t trade it for nothing..

I have a number of taurus and rossi products and all have worked as advertised. My next revolver is gonna be a smith or a ruger. What about a charter arms they are reasonable and my wife loves her pink lady.

charter is about the same. You can get a very good gun one time and the next time buy the exact same gun and its junk. Only advantage to charter is the customer service is a tad better then rossi and especially tauras.

Smiths are sweet but if you get a ruger sp101 I'll wager you'll never have a problem out of it, Rossis just don't appeal to me at all and tarus seems to be a crapshoot as to getting a good one.
