Buffalo classic breech pops open while shooting
« on: December 07, 2008, 04:01:43 PM »
Hi guys this is my first post.Great site, my BC opens when shooting. I was loading 500gr cast bullets over  14.8gr of unique with 5/8" square dacron 1/4" thick as filler. When shooting 300gr cast bullets with 34gr of 3031 it was fine. Now it opens all the time. I may have done some damage to it. I tried a search but could not find anything. My question is, what  do i do now? Thank you YNOT

You might also want to check how much the sear is contacting the lug and if it contacts all the way across. Clean the oild off the lug and mark it with a felt pen then close it. Should be able to see the mark left by the sear.

Proper latch engagement is discussed in the barrel fitting info in the FAQs and Help sticky, a great place to start reading for ALL newbies.  ;)
