Keeping BH-209

What has been everyones experience with keeping Bh-209 from year to year?  Does it keep, or does it degrade like pyrodex?

I'm interested in the responses you get.  This is my first year for BH, and I've about emptied a container.  When I went to get more the price was up to $41.00.  If it degrades I know I won't buy more.

I think for many of us this is the 1st year, it just came out(spring/summer 2008). I bought 3 containers at the $30 price, gave one away. I worked up a load & shot 5 deer & have 1/2 or less in one & 1 full container. I did see where Natchez or Midsouth SS had it on sale very recently for $25 or so a container. I'll just use my stock next Fall.

A was mentioned, this is the first year for consumers anyway. I bought a case of 10 back in early April, I have about 4 or 5 full containers left. I have not noticed any changes from one container to the next. I think the powder is coated (probably to seal out moisture), and I suspect that this is why it is so hard to ignite. I I have full confidence that it will shoot the same next year (or 2-3 years if it were to last that long) as it did this past year. I would guess that the shelf life is comparable to a similar smokeless powder, as long as it is stored properly.

This is what Western says about it, they have been testing it for a year or two, they would know best how it keeps. See #10.

Now if I can find it cheaper, I'll buy more.  $40.00 is stiff.

Go here, click on "Powders", then click on "Accurate Arms", Blackhorn 209 is on the first line for $25.98. Of course you will have a $20 Haz-Mat, and about $10 shipping fee. If you can get a few buddies to all pitch in and order a case of 10 or so it really spreads out the added costs.

MidwayUSA has it for $24.99 until December 31 in the monthly flyer.

Midsouth's site says they have it in stock too, but good luck finding it.
