If it polishes off in the tumbler it is usually ok.....brass, right, not steel, not plated....brass.  If there are indentations or pitting that could cause a crack, I crush it with a pliers and put it in my scrap can.  I have a couple of .30-30 brass that are tarnished but still load up good.  I do not load these with a high pressure load.   I pick up reloadable range brass at every opportunity.  Unsafe gets crushed and tossed.  Seldom find brass with much corrosion at typical shooting places.  Not usually there long enough.  If you find it out hunting and it has been out there a few years, I would crush it and save it for the scrap bin.
