I took some of my own advise today.....
« on: December 20, 2008, 12:29:54 PM »
I traded, cheaply I might add, for an Optima Pro 50cal today.  Its blue on black fiber inbedded looking stock.  Nice, with no real marks or dings on the outside.  Came with scope mount, but no rear sight.  That's OK, Williams has a Fire Sight set that I wanted anyways.  I took it hame and cleaned the barrel real go with Hoppies #9.  No pitting or marks in the barrel either.  I normally have some tools with me to get into breeches, but wasn't really looking to get anything today.  So I didn't come prepared, there goes my scout badge!

The guy who traded it in must not have had the best timing in the world.  The breech plug channel with clogged with carbon!  I soaked it in brake cleaner for awhile and drilled out the channel.  Still that's the smallest hole I've seen!  Is this normal?  I'm going to get the 25ACP conversion breech plug, well maybe.  I'm meeting a fellow range member Monday to shoot up some of his BH209 and see what sabots my OP likes.  Might just keep it as is if the BH209 works out.

I mounted a BSA RedDot model BZ30SB on it.  It looks cool, but since I was able to trade for a NIB Banner 1-4x32 Scope, I doubt it stay on long.  The BSA isn't rated for the recoil anyways.

Best thing about it, I didn't dip into my Savage Jar!
