OK, Here The Skinny On Redding 45/70 Reloading Dies
« on: August 18, 2003, 06:52:32 AM »
just got off the phone with a Redding Tech(who i have to say wasn't too friendly) and he told me that, yes this is how their dies are designed. that when you run the cases thru the sizer die they will come out bottle shaped with a shoulder. supposedly with this design the sizer only works the neck and body area less than the conventional sizer die design. still having problems using the expander die to expand the necks enough to accept a bullet without the bullet sliding down to almost the cannuler before any resistance is felt. adjusting the expander as per thier instructions, either the bullet won't fit in the neck or it slids down almost to the cannuler with not much neck tenision. he wanted to send me a SAMMI spec sheet but don't see how that will solve the problem. keep telling me that my cases are too thin but never had a problem with these cases with neck tension when using my old Hornady dies. i don't know what happened to that great customer service from Redding that i've heard people talk about. nothing like the customer service i have experinced with Dillon and RCBS. so these dies are up for sale for $40.00+s+h if any one is interested. i only sized 20 cases thorugh the sizer die so they are still almost brand new. this guy sure soured me on Redding products and their customer service.
