New Serial Numbers..

I just bought a new H&R 444 for the frame and stock set and the serial number starts CBA00XXXXX.   What does CB stand for?

Looks like Remington has changed the serial numbering for Ilion produced firearms, is it marked made in Ilion?

Maybe they have a bunch of frames made at Gardner to use up first. I'll send an email for more info on the serial number change.

Since Tim has yet to get a reply from his inside sources at H&R/Rem. can we at least shoot out some guesses on the new Serial Number prefix meanings?

Here's mine:  CB for  Centerfire Barrel  -  A for first year of production, 2008

Maybe a designation of CB for centerfire, SB for shotgun, RB for rimfire would be helpful when talking to the factory about our Handi frames and what barrels can be added.

OK, OK,  I'm getting cabin fever watching the snow fall all day and the old mind is getting bored. ::)

Cabin fever? Watching the snow fall? There is a way to fight it. We just got hit with about 10" of wet heavy snow and I helped my neighbor and let her park her car in our yard, she has a steep driveway, a hill really, and her husband is a local LEO currently working the evening shift. After she left her car in my yard and changed she and her 10 year old son shoveled their driveway and came over and started mine, I went out and my other neighbor with a snowblower came over and we all worked on mine, then finished hers and made a spot for her husbands truck when he gets home after midnight, I then helped my other neighbor, the snowblowers owner, do his driveway. My first neighbor and her son were sliding down the hill in front of their house and as an afterthought I invited them over to the hottub with my wife and I. I think they thought I may have been a little crazy but after checking with my wife they decided to try it. Well, here it is 10:30 PM and we all just got out..It's surprising what 30-40 minutes in 105 degree water during a snowstorm will do to you, or it may have been the Vodka and Grapefruit juice I had in the hottub.
By the way I have no info on the new serial numbers but Merry CHRISTmas to all!!!....<><....:)
